SEO and AEO for cleaning companies

Cleaning Company SEO and AEO

What we build toward is a full schedule of recurring clients who found you on their own. Google shows your company when a homeowner types “house cleaning near me.” When an office manager asks ChatGPT who handles janitorial work nearby, the answer is you. Search rankings, AI answers, reviews, and local listings, run as one program and measured on booked cleans.

Why now

How People Pick a Cleaning Company Has Changed

A conch shell resting inside a blue sponge

Hiring a cleaner is a trust decision. Someone is handing over a house key, an alarm code, or an empty office after hours. So they search with conditions attached: “licensed and bonded house cleaning near me,” “same day house cleaning near me,” “move out cleaning near me.” People type each of those into Google every month. To show up for them, you need a page that answers that exact search, a Google Business Profile that lists the service, and reviews that mention it.

Commercial buyers do the same thing with a bigger contract on the line. A facility manager searching “office janitorial services near me” wants to see which buildings you clean, what hours you work, and how to book a walkthrough. If that manager asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for a shortlist instead, you want your company on it, with your services, areas, and reviews easy for those tools to find and read.

Directories count too. People search “yelp house cleaning near me” and “angie’s list house cleaning near me,” so your listings there need to match your website word for word. Getting recommended is brand work, and we’re a brand management company. You can probably see where this is going.

Who This Is For

We build this for owners of house cleaning, maid service, commercial cleaning, and janitorial companies. Homeowners and facility managers search in different ways. Each side gets its own pages: recurring, deep, and move-out cleans for one, nightly office service for the other. If your cleaning business marketing runs on referrals and paid leads from booking apps today, this builds a source you own. You should have a working website, crews that can take on more work, and the patience to let authority compound.

Not a fit if: you need booked cleans this week (that’s a paid-ads conversation, and we run those too), if you want the top spot for “house cleaning near me” by month two, or if you’re shopping for the cheapest dashboard subscription with a human attached. We take a limited number of search clients so every account gets a dedicated consultant who knows your business.

How it runs

How SEO for Cleaning Companies Works Now

Forget the bag of keywords and the monthly PDF. We run five working parts on one 90-day cadence, built around how people hire a cleaner.

A squid hovering over a reef
01

Technical Foundation

First we fix what’s blocking you: crawl errors, redirects, sitemaps, site speed, and any booking widget that hides your service list from crawlers. Then we add LocalBusiness schema with your service areas and hours, plus an llms.txt file that points AI tools to your main pages. Every page goes to Bing, which feeds ChatGPT.

02

Service and Area Pages

One page per clean you sell, and one per place you sell it. A move-out page answers what’s included, whether you bring supplies, and how pricing works. An office cleaning page lists the buildings you handle and how to book a walkthrough. Area pages are written for each city your crews cover, with no copy-and-paste city swaps.

03

Google Business Profile and Listings

Google has a profile type for companies that go to the customer: the service-area business. We set yours up that way, list up to 20 service areas, and pick the primary category that matches the work you want more of. Then your name, address, and phone get matched across Bing Places, Yelp, Angi, and Nextdoor.

04

Reviews That Answer the Next Customer’s Questions

Homeowners read reviews to decide whether to trust you inside their house. Did the crew show up on time? Were the baseboards done? We set up a review request your office sends after the first clean, plus a reply template for every review. For commercial accounts, a two-line quote from a facility manager tells the next manager more than a star count.

05

AI-Answer Content and Lead Tracking

We write answer-first pages for the questions people ask before booking: what a deep clean includes, what licensed and bonded means, and how often office floors need stripping. AI assistants quote that format, and homeowners trust it. Then we track booked walkthroughs first, AI mentions for your money searches second, and rankings third.

What it replaced

Almost nobody landed on a page that could sell them anything

97in 100

People who found OrangeBag on Google landed on a blog article.

3in 100

Landed somewhere they could ask for a price.

507→ 106

Pages before and after. Every service and market OrangeBag sells now has its own page.

What this means

The old site was mostly articles — many written for cities OrangeBag doesn’t serve, and a lot of them published two or three times over at different web addresses.

So when a hotel manager searched for commercial laundry, Google had five hundred pages to choose from and usually showed an article. The pages that could take a quote request were buried.

Source: Google Search Console, twelve months before launch.

The work

What changed

01

Every service got its own page. Someone searching for gym towel service used to find a blog post. Now there is a page for gym towels, one for hotel linen, one for spas — and each one can take a quote request. Three of the five leads came in through those pages.

02

The site stopped competing with itself. The same article existed at two or three web addresses, so Google had to choose between copies of OrangeBag and usually showed none of them well. Each topic has one page now, and the leftover copies are being redirected to it.

03

Each market page explains how that market is served. Los Angeles is OrangeBag’s own plant, and the other markets run from facilities closer to the client so turnaround stays short. Buyers want to know who handles their route before they ask for a price, and now the page answers it.

04

OrangeBag owns the site now. Moved off Squarespace onto WordPress with a separate build environment, so pages can be changed and tested without touching the live site.

Nineteen pages written and reviewed. Eleven defects found and fixed before anything went live.

The architecture

One page for every vertical they serve

Every market page is a market OrangeBag can run a route to. Nothing was built to catch a search OrangeBag cannot serve.

A luxury hotel suite with a made king bed

Hotel linen & towel

Scheduled routes, exclusive linen pools.

A bright fitness club floor with cardio and strength equipment

Gym & studio towel

High-rotation towel programs.

A spa treatment room prepared for a client

Spa & salon linen

Soft-touch finishing for robes and linens.

Eight service pages and eleven location pages.

What’s next

The rebuild is the floor, not the ceiling

Blog consolidation

Retiring the duplicated city-blog network into the new pages, harvesting what is worth keeping before each redirect.

Editorial program

Twenty-four posts across four clusters, each answering the question an operator asks before they are ready to buy.

Conversion tracking

Attributing every quote request to its landing page and query, so the next round is aimed by evidence.

Metro pages

Six metros have a page of their own. The region pages name a dozen more — Dallas, Austin, Orlando, Tampa, Northern Virginia — that do not.

Service by market

A buyer searching for hotel linen in San Francisco gets the hotel page or the San Francisco page, never one written for both. Those pages are worth building.

Residential service areas

Santa Monica, Long Beach and West Hollywood have pages on the residential side. The rest of the Los Angeles metro follows.

Next phase scoped and ready.

OrangeBag

Commercial laundry and linen service for hotels, gyms, spas, medical offices and short-term rentals.

Questions Cleaning Business Owners Ask

How do I get clients for my cleaning business?

If you’re working out how to get cleaning business clients from search, start where people already look. Fill in your Google Business Profile, build a page for each clean you sell, and ask every happy first-time client for a review. Those pieces keep working after the ads stop.

What are proven SEO strategies for a cleaning business website?

Give every service and every area you serve its own page. Put the answer at the top: what’s included, who brings supplies, and how to get a quote. Then add LocalBusiness schema, submit the site to Bing, and keep your name, address, and phone identical everywhere. Good cleaning company SEO services cover all of that, plus the reviews that back it up.

How do I set up a Google Business Profile for a cleaning company?

If you go to your customers’ homes and offices, set it up as a service-area business, which Google describes as a business that “visits or delivers to customers directly.” Add up to 20 service areas by city or ZIP code, choose the primary category that matches the work you want most, and post photos from real jobs. Then copy the same name, address, and phone to Bing Places, Yelp, and Angi.

What’s the best way to collect and show off customer reviews for a cleaning business?

Ask right after the first clean, while the house still looks good, with a text that has a direct review link. Reply to every review, including the bad ones, so the next customer sees how you handle problems. Then put the best ones on the matching service page: a move-out review on the move-out page, a facility manager’s quote on the office cleaning page.

What local SEO tips help cleaning companies rank higher?

Google says local results “are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity.” You can’t change where a searcher is standing, so local SEO for cleaning business owners works on the other two. That means area pages written for each city, a complete profile, steady new reviews, and the same business details on every directory.

Does SEO bring in commercial and janitorial contracts?

It can, because facility managers search “janitorial services near me” and “office janitorial services near me” like anyone else. Janitorial SEO means pages for the building types you clean, with your schedules, insurance, and walkthrough process up top. Our closest proof is OrangeBag, a commercial laundry selling to hotels, gyms, spas, and offices, which brings in 24 or more commercial leads a month.
